Crimean Tatars who work in the government sector in Crimea are lobbied to work in the “election commissions” in the upcoming elections of Russian President on March 18, as Crimean Tatar activist Zedzhvet Kurtumetov told Krym.Realii.
“They are lobbying the Crimean Tatars from the government sector, individuals who are dependent on this authority one way or another to work in the election commissions in the upcoming elections of the President of Russia. The thing is, many of our people actively participated in the elections before 2014 and know all the processes really well. The current authorities are using it,” he said.
The elections of the President of Russia are to be held on March 2018, the fourth anniversary of the annexation of Crimea. People that live in Crimea are expected to come to the vote. Ukraine and most other countries don’t recognize the annexation, so Ukraine finds these sorts of elections on the occupied peninsula unlawful.
