About 700 CCTV cameras to be installed in Kyiv

‘674 CCTV cameras were purchased in December 2017. It is planned to install them at all entry and exits of the metro stations (195 cameras), at the entry to the capital (139 cameras) and at the traffic lights’ intersections (340 cameras)’, the message said.

It is noted that 1378 CCTV cameras were installed in Kyiv in 2017. Particularly, 206 cameras were installed by Eurovision (at the central squares and city streets, ‘Natalks’ part, Parkova Road, Brovarsky Avenue). Moreover, 1172 cameras cover 10 districts of Kyiv, Trukhaniv Island and Taras Shevchenko Boulevard.

Earlier Vitaly Klitschko, the Mayor of Kyiv claimed that the number of the installed CCTV cameras in Kyiv should increase up to 10,000 in 2018. According to Klitschko, the smart cameras that can identify the faces of people and license plate number of cars are installed in the capital. Such cameras are installed at the high-traffic areas, schools, kindergartens, health care facilities and some metro stations.
