The state budget of Ukraine foresees almost USD 18 billion on the construction of the
underground] across the country. Stepan Poltorak, Ukraine’s defense minister said that during the question hour at the Parliament’s session on Friday.
‘We plan to get to work in 2018. Thanks to the budget that we approved, there are roughly 18 billion dollars to build these depots for storing missiles and ammunition,’ he said.
The minister added this would help prevent sabotages and terrorist acts, as well as accidents that result in casualties.

According to Poltorak, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense
needs to boost the security of military bases, arsenals, and storages, where the troops keep hundreds of thousands of tons of ammunition; the army needs 300,000 U.S. dollars to build the even-tempered underground ammunition depots.
‘By the end of the month, we’re going to start solving this issue. We plan to construct underground ammunition depots; this way, we’ll be able to keep these 400,000 tons of ammunition – even if a direct armed aggression takes place and the enemy lands air strikes on our bases,’ Poltorak stressed. He added it’s impossible to solve this problem in just one year, which is why the Ministry developed a special-purpose program to be implemented.
