Ukraine offered Japan to launch direct flight Kyiv-Tokyo Ukraine has proposed to Japan to consider the possibility of signing an agreement on air communication between the countries, as well as to launch a direct flight Kyiv-Tokyo, UNIAN.

Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported the relevant proposals were announced during a working visit to Japan by the governmental delegation headed by First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv and later joined by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure for European Integration Viktor Dovhan.

"In the event of an increase in passenger traffic between Japan and Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure has offered to consider a draft agreement on air transport and the opening of a direct flight between Kyiv and Tokyo," the report says.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), as well as major companies, which are included in the Japan Business Federation (KEIDANREN) joined the meeting took place November 21-23.

The parties also discussed projects to attract Japanese investment in the transport infrastructure of Ukraine.

"The parties have agreed to coordinate a JICA expert report on the study of logistics potential of the transport system in southern Ukraine, including a draft of the loan for the construction of the bridge in Mykolaiv until June 2017, and to organize the participation of Japanese companies in investment projects in Ukraine," the report reads.
