Armless man denied housing loan because he couldn't provide fingerprints

Armless man denied housing loan because he couldn't provide fingerprintsA Henan man was recently denied a housing loan, not because of poor credit history, but because of his lack of arms.

25-year-old Wu Jianping lost both his arms after receiving a severe electrical shock when he was just 5 years old. Over the years, he has managed to cope with the loss. For instance, he writes and signs his name using his mouth.

However, there is one thing he can't provide - fingerprints.ї

Several banks in Zhengzhou turned down Wu's loan application because he was unable to give them fingerprints. Bank staff explained to him that for security and legal purposes, a signature was not good enough. No fingerprints, no loan.

News of the incredible reason behind Wu's loan rejections went viral on the Chinese internet with web users angrily protesting the obvious unfairness of the case.

Pretty quickly, the banks changed their minds and decided to help Wu out with his loan. Meanwhile, the Zhengzhou housing management bureau announced that it had established a special path for people like Wu, The Paper reports.

While netizens were happy with the result, they also hoped that someday a situation like this could be resolved without involvement from the media and the masses.
