Ukraine's Independence day at Khreshchatyk: ID cards neededPeople will be asked to present their passports while coming to the celebration to Khreshchatik, Vesti.

Most of the central streets will be closed for the traffic due to the 25th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.

People will be required to pass through metal detector frames to enter the Maidan and Khreshchatik areas.

They also will be asked to show identity cards and might be examined.

The head of the police office in Kyiv Andrey Khrishchenko said: " We will check everybody accessing areas where events will be held. The Maidan Nezalezhnosti square will be cordoned, metal detector frames will be placed, the surface inspection will be performed."

Ten checking points have been announced to be scattered along the premises.

Khreshchatik street will be closed for the transport from 8am untill 11pm along with the metro stations of Khreshchatik and Maidan Nezalezhnosti to be closed for the same time slot.
