Famous Georgian film director Giorgi Danelia deceased in Moscow on April 4. The prominent film maker was 88.
According to Novaya Gazeta, in February, the film maker was taken to a hospital after his conditions worsened because of severe lung inflammation. He was brought to an intensive care unit; the doctors had to put him into an induced coma to stabilize his breath.

Danelia was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1930. In 1959, he graduated from the Higher Director Courses at Mosfilm studio in Moscow. The list of his famous films includes Afonya (1975), Mimino (1977) and Kin-Dza-Dza (1986). 
In 1980, Danelia survived a clinical death after being diagnosed with peritonitis and spent a year in hospital. According to his wife Galina Yurkova-Daneliya, he suffered from a progressing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for many years; this, eventually, may have led to his death.
