Ukraine's cinema authorities shape Ukrainian Oscar Committee

The State Cinema Agency, the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine and the Association of Producers of Ukraine started working to shape the Ukrainian Oscar Committee. The press office of State Cinema Agency reported that.
The decision about the line-up of the Oscar Committee will be made by the members of the Civil Council of the Ukrainian Oscar Committee. The Council consists of 80 representatives of the Ukrainian cinema industry. Every member can offer five candidacies from among the other members of the Civil Council. The rating list will be formed based on these offers.
The candidacies will be filed from February 9 till March 3.
The final line-up of the Ukrainian Oscar Committee will be anounced on March 11.
Earlier, we reported that the Distant Barking of Dogs, the documentary about Donbas conflict has been shortlisted for the Oscar award. Azad Safarov, the Ukrainian journalist and one of the makers of the film, posted that on Facebook.
The documentary made in cooperation of Denmark, Sweden and Finland tells the story of a 10-year-old boy who lives on the frontline. He and his grandmother are among the few remaining residents of Hnutove village in Donetsk region. They have nowhere to run and simply observe the other people escaping to safety.
The picture already received dozens of awards on various cinema festivals.
