Clashes with police in Kyiv: State Investigation Bureau opens case of police abuse

The State Investigation Bureau (SIB) opened criminal proceedings after numerous accusations against the police in beating protesters near the office in Kyiv. This was reported by the press secretary of the Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko,
"The Department of Organization and Procedural Management of the Pre-Trial Investigation of Criminal Offenses have filed information on the criminal offense committed by law enforcement officers under Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Abuse of power or official authority). An investigative group was formed, "said Sargan.
Investigative actions are underway.
“Near the Podilske police department in Kyiv, police officers, exceeding their official powers, injured protesters,” added Sargan.

Earlier we reported that law enforcement officers
detained people who stormed the police department in Kyiv and fought with the police. About this reports the press service of the Kyiv police on Facebook.
On Kontraktova Square, law enforcement officers saw a group of people with covered faces. They had gas cartridges and knives. The police detained them and took them to the police station.
Soon the detainees were released, but the others came to the rescue. Unknown people tried to damage the entrance doors, used gas cartridges and fought with law enforcement officers.
As a result, the police detained about 40 people and opened 3 criminal proceedings under the articles “Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer”, “Seizure of public buildings” and “Hooliganism”.
As a result of the brawl, three police officers hospitalized with injuries.
