Man planting cannabis in attic detained in Kyiv with $68 000 bail

A man, who was planting cannabis in the attic of the high-rise building, was arrested]in Kyiv. The press-service of the National Police reports this.

A hothouse with hemp plantations was detected on Lebedev Street. During the search, 163 pots with grown plants and about 30 kg of plant-derived substance were removed from the spot.

Cannabis in Ukraine is illegal but continues to be produced illicitly. The limit for possession without intent to sell, for which no criminal liability is given, is up to 5 grams of cannabis.

As was reported by Newsweek, Canadian cannabis company has become the first international entity to be granted a license to import and sell its products in Ukraine. The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control officially gave permission to C21 Investments Inc., which is headquartered in Vancouver, to import, process, distribute and re-export Cannabidiol (CBD) extracts, concentrates and products.
