12,000 video surveillance cameras to be set up in Kyiv by 2020

The number of video surveillance equipment installed in Kyiv is planned to be increased by 12,000 units yet by 2020, reads the message of the Kyiv City State Administration

According to the decree ‘On the adoption of events plan for 2019-2020 on the realization of a development strategy of Kyiv by 2020,’ 12,000 cameras with the feature of detecting faces and license plates identification will be installed by 2020. In 2019, the number will increase by 10,000.  

The developed surveillance system allows covering all infrastructure facilities and the territory of the city, in order to enhance security, including vehicles’ speed rate and license plate recognition. 
Seven million dollars have been allocated from the city budget for the implementation of the project. 
As it was reported earlier, the Law on Ukraine’s 2019 state budget comes into force on January 1. 

The budget foresees the incomes at the rate of approximately 36 billion U.S. dollars, including incomes of the general fund - 33,1 billion U.S. dollars and incomes of the special fund - 3,4 billion U.S. dollars. 
The Ukrainian Parliament passed the law about the state budget for the next year (bill No.9000). 239 MPs voted 'yes' in the second reading, 240 upheld it on the whole. The final voting took place in the early morning of Friday, November 23. The President of Ukraine signed the law on December 7.
