Rees-Mogg slams 'UKIP-isation' of Brexit

By Aubrey Allegretti, political reporter, in Birmingham
Jacob Rees-Mogg has warned the Conservatives against succumbing to the "UKIP-isation" of Brexit.
The Tory MP and chair of the pro-Leave European Research Group slammed a "sepia-tinted 1950s view of Brexit".
He said the advice may be found "odd for me to say" but that the Conservatives needed to steer clear of preaching a vision of a "narrow European" nation.

Speaking at the party's annual conference in Birmingham, Mr Rees-Mogg claimed that telling young people they could be ruled by unknown bureaucrats in Brussels was a "really popular" argument for Brexiteers to make."If only we get out there and make it and try and get away from the UKIP-isation of Brexit," he told the Policy Exchange event."Because I think the UKIP view, and you may think it's odd for me to say, the sort of sepia-tinted 1950s view of Brexit has never been my vision of Brexit.
