The Embassy of Ukraine to France has urged the international community to increase the pressure put on Russia to immediately release all Ukrainian political prisoners, particularly journalist Roman Sushchenko as the embassy reported on Facebook.
“Russia’s Supreme court will make a decision on the appeal on the case of Roman Sushchenko tomorrow. It is necessary to continue the consolidation of the international efforts by increasing pressure on Russia for the immediate release of all Ukrainian political prisoner,” the message said.

As we reported the appeal against Sushchenko’s sentence was filed on August 6 to the Russian Supreme Court.
Ukrainian Roman Sushchenko, the reporter of Ukrinfiorm news agency, was detained in September 2016 in Moscow and accused by the FSB of espionage. For this, he faces 20 years in prison. Ukraine has appealed to Russia with a demand to release the Ukrainian journalist multiple times.

Moscow City Court of Russia has sentenced Roman Sushchenko, the citizen of Ukraine to 12 years in the hard labor colony for the espionage. Russia’s FSB believes that Sushchenko came from Paris to Moscow to visit his cousin in September 2016 to collect information on Mariupol attack. The court session against Sushchenko took place in the closed regime and the court announced only introductory and resume parts of the decision.
