Gerashchenko: Ukraine ready to exchange two Russians for Ukrainian servicemen

Ukrainian side in Minsk proposed to pardon two Russian citizens and convey them to the Russian Consul with a simultaneous exchange of the Ukrainian servicemen with Ukraine illegally kept on the occupied territory of Donbas. ‘The Ukrainian side is looking for all possible ways of resuming the process of the release of the hostages from the Russian Federation and from occupied territories. I made another proposal Russians: Ukrainian side, as an exception to pardon two Russian citizens who have health issues and convey them to the Consul in the presence of the OSCE and ICRC representatives with a simultaneous exchange of the Ukrainian servicemen with Ukraine who are illegally being kept for three years in Donbas,’ Gerashchenko claimed.  

During the session of the Trilateral Contact Group on Wednesday, the Ukrainian side expressed the concern that Russian side hasn’t given their answer on the proposal of exchanging the Russians who committed offices for the Ukrainians in the Russian prisons.  
‘We are standing on the position of the simultaneous transfer of the Russian citizens in exchange for the Kremlin’s Ukrainian political prisoners. Along with this to show one more time the readiness for a compromise and constructive proposal in this matter by looking for new and new ways and ideas for resuming the process of the release of the hostages from the Russian Federation and from occupied territories, as an exception, we are ready to refer two Russian convicted to the Russian consuls in exchange for our military who are being kept for many years on the Russian and occupied territories of Donbas,’ Gerashchenko stated.  

As it was reported earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko was ready to pardon the Russians who are kept I Ukraine in exchange for the Ukrainian political prisoners in the Russian Federation. 
Reportedly, Ukrainian Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova claimed that 22 Russians sent a message to Putin
with a request to exchange for the Ukrainian political prisoners.
