Russia to treat further U.S. sanctions as economic war, - Medvedev

The implementation of new U.S. sanctions against Russia may be seen as the declaration of economic war. Russian Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev said this as quoted by TASS news agency.
According to the head of the Russian government, one will have to react, using economic, political and 'other' means, as he put it.
'If anything like a ban of banking activity or use of any currency will follow, one can fairly describe it as a declaration of the economic war. And one will surely have to respond to this war with economic methods, political methods - and, if necessary, other means as well. And our American friends should realize that,' Medvedev said.

He added that there's 'nothing good about sanctions', because 'any sort of limitations eventually have the impact on the economic welfare, on the currency rate fluctuation'.
The U.S. government announced new sanctions against Russia, related to the poisoning of former GRU agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. The restrictions are supposed to take effect on August 22.
Earlier, the Kremlin described the sanctions as 'draconian', as the Russian embassy in the U.S. protested against the decision of the American government.
