Oleksandr Kolchenko, Ukrainian political prisoner is with 90 people in barrack-type place in Chelyabinsk colony. He reads a lot and attended courses on the furniture assembling. Larysa Kolchenko, mother of the political prisoner claimed this in the interview to Meduza outlet after a three-day visit visiting with her son.

‘He said that he lives in a barrack-type place. There are 90 people with him. He doesn’t waste his time. He has attended courses on the furniture assembling. He had an opportunity to work, to assemble the furniture but he waived. Sasha reads a lot. Asks to send him engineer, phycology and pedagogy books. Last time he said he liked the book of Makarenko about fostering children. Also, he started to study English,’ she said.

According to Oleksandr Kolchenko, he lost weight by ten kilograms in a week with the growth of 190 centimeters he weighs 50 kilos.
‘He lost ten kilograms in a week. Can you imagine the stress he experienced so the body reacted like that. With the growth of 190 centimeters, he weighs 50 kilos. The doctors in the colony have been deciding to forcibly feed him but it wasn’t necessary as Sasha started to gradually eat on his own,’ the mother of the political prisoner said.

Also, Larysa Kolchenko claimed that they were provided a room with its bathroom and kitchen during her three-day visit. She brought him 20 kilograms of food.
‘Sasha was always asking of the news in Crimea and Ukraine. He was happy that the Crimean bridge is built, and was sad because Crimea Tatars are still being arrested and being pushed on. Only Russian TV channels are broadcasted there, he is being given Novaya Gazeta newspaper though,’ she said.

Reportedly, Kolchenko declared a hunger strike on May 31, requiring the release of Oleg Sentsov. He had to suspend the strike, as he got very weak. 
Kolchenko and Sentsov were detained by Russian intelligence services in Crimea in May 2014. They were accused of the organization of a terrorist act on the peninsula. Kolchenko was sentenced to 10 years of the colony, Sentsov to 20 years. Both are denying their guilt.
