European Court of Human Rights calls Sentsov to stop hunger strike

European Court of Human Rights adopted a decision concerning interim measures with regard to Oleg Sentsov, the illegally condemned Ukrainian filmmaker who is hunger striking with the requirement of release of Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia. It is }]claimed in the press release of the court.
‘The court is adopting a decision on an interim measure of medical care for Oleg Sentsov and calls him to stop the hunger strike,’ reads the message.

The court called Russia to provide a relevant medical treatment and proposed the filmmaker to accept the treatment for sake of saving his life.
It is noted, according to paragraph 39 of the Court's position, European Court of Human Rights have a right to indicate to any signatory state of the European Convention on Human Rights on interim measures that must be implemented without delay.
The interim measures are assigned, when there is a threat of irreparable harm.

Reportedly, Oleg Sentsov was detained by Russian intelligence agencies in Crimea on May 2018. Later he was sentenced to 20 years of the colony under the accusation of terrorist activity on the territory of Crimea. Oleg does not admit his guilt.
Sentsov declared a hunger strike with a requirement to release all Ukrainian political prisoners in the Russian Federation.
