Finnish government joins boycott of FIFA World Cup in Russia

The political leadership of Finland refused to visit Russia for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018, which is to kick on June 14. Andriy Olefirov, the ambassador of Ukraine in Finland, tweeted this on late Tuesday.
Previously, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she had no reason to refuse from visiting the country for the World Cup; her French counterpart Emmanuel Macron also said he would join the event.
The UK and Iceland, on the other hand, announced the boycott of the competition. Australia joined them later.

As is known, FIFA World Cup 2018 will be held in eleven cities across Russia, from June 14 through July 15.
Ukraine's national team does not participate in the event.
The Federation of Football of Ukraine did not buy the tickets for the tournament; no Ukrainian reporters were accredited for the competition, and no media coverage is offered by the Ukrainian side, too. Minister of Youth and Sport Andriy Zhdanov and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin urged the fellow Ukrainians not to visit Russia during the competition - for the sake of their personal security.
