Amnesty International urges Russia to release Sentsov

Salil Shetty, the Secretary-General of the Amnesty International has urged Russia to release Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov as the press service of the organization reported
.
‘Oleg Sentsov is starving for 25 days in the protest of the detention of the Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia. He was sentenced to 20 years of the imprisonment in the result of the unjust and politically motivated trial. We support Oleg and demand his release’, Salil Shetty said.

Amnesty International has pointed to the violation of the rights for the just court proceeding in Russia for many times.
‘Tortures and ill-treatment are the common violations in the court proceeding system of Russia. Moreover, the conditions during the transfer of the prisoners to Russia and can be equaled to the ill-treatment’, the message said.
Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov has announced a hunger strike on May 14. This way, he demands that all Ukrainians detained in Russia and annexed Crimea be released. Sentsov said he was ready to die if the requirements were not fulfilled.

The relatives of Sentsov note the deterioration of his health. According to the sister, he gets injections of glucose in the amount of one liter daily. Russian moviemaker Askold Kurov noted that the Ukrainian political prisoner feels good.
June 1-2, the international campaign #SaveOlegSentsov to be held in different cities around the world. The organizers say that these days they "will give a red card to the regime of Putin," who illegally keeps people behind the bars.
