Putin undertakes office as Russia’s president for fourth time

Vladimir Putin has undertaken the office as the president of Russia for the fourth time. The inauguration took place in the Grand Kremlin Palace as Interfax reported.
Putin became entitled to occupy this post for another six years.

Valery Zorkin, the Chairman of Russian Constitutional Court claimed that Putin officially assumed the office as the president of Russia after Putin’s oath.
‘We have handled the thorniest economic and social issues. We have realized that we cannot lose the connection with our roots and history, changing together with the world’, Putin claimed during the inauguration.
Russia traditionally holds the elections in Crimea since the annexation of the peninsula. Particularly, the election to the Russian State Duma took place in September 2016.

On March 18, 2018, at the fourth anniversary of the annexation, the election of the president of Russia took place there.
The current President Putin beat a record of the support, receiving 56.2 million of votes or 76.65 percent of votes, with 99% ballots processed. 
Refat Chubarov, the Chairman of Crimean Tatar Mejlis reported on the low turnout in Crimea. According to Russia's Central Election Committee, 1, 079, 531 persons participated in the election.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recognized the Russian election in Crimea illegal and doubted the legitimacy of the election.
Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine submitted a draft law to the parliament that provides the revoking of the Ukrainian citizenship due to the participation in the Russian election in Crimea.
