Parliamentary elections
to be held in Lebanon for the first time over nine years, as AP reports.
The ballot stations are opened in all the regions of the state. More than 3,6 million of residents may vote for a parliamentary candidate till 19:00 local time (coincides with Kyiv time).
In total, 586 registered candidates are running for 128 seats in the Parliament. 86 of them are women.

It should be noted that the seats in the Lebanon’s Parliament are spread over an ethnic religious characteristic among 11 groups. For instance, Sunni and Shiite Muslims have 27 seats and Maronite Christians have 37.
It is remarkable that Lebanon’s citizens vote on the parliamentary elections for the first time since 2009, after the acting parliament has prolonged the term three times by itself under the guise of a political instability.

The security measures are increased during the elections day – the police and military servicemen are located not only near the ballot stations, but also on the streets.
