The Republican Party ruling in Armenia will not nominate a candidate for the post of prime minister. This was stated by the vice-speaker of the parliament Eduard Sharmazanov, writes Interfax.

According to him, the party's position was determined following the meeting with former Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan and acting  Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.

"The Republican Party decided not to nominate a candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia, we will discuss all the candidates who will be nominated, and we will make a decision before the voting on May 1. The political situation has changed, today we see the internal political crisis in Armenia," Sharmazanov said.

He stressed that the party will decide whom to support after the nomination of all candidates, while noting that at the moment the Republicans do not know whether there are other candidates for the post, other than Nikol Pashinyan.

Let us remind you that protest rallies continue in Armenia. The leader of the protesters, opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan called for resuming mass rallies on April 29, and on May 1 to attend the rally during the consideration of candidates for the post of prime minister in parliament.
