Eurocontrol, the international organization working to achieve safe and seamless air traffic management across Europe, warned the air companies against possible risks of strikes in Syria over the course of the next 72 hours.
According to Reuters, Eurocontrol said that air-to-ground and/or cruise missiles could be used within that period and there was a possibility of intermittent disruption of radio navigation equipment.
“Due to the possible launch of air strikes into Syria with air-to-ground and/or cruise missiles within the next 72 hours, and the possibility of intermittent disruption of radio navigation equipment, due consideration needs to be taken when planning flight operations in the Eastern Mediterranean/Nicosia FIR area,” Eurocontrol said, as quoted by Reuters.
An airstrike occurred in Syria's Homs on April 8. Multiple missiles hit T-4, the local airbase,
SANA]reported. The attack resulted in casualties among civilians; the actual number is not revealed.
The U.S. Department of Defense denied that the airstrike was landed by the U.S. Air Force. 'At this time, the Department of Defense is not conducting air strikes in Syria,' the Pentagon said in a statement. 'However, we continue to closely watch the situation and support the ongoing diplomatic efforts to hold those who use chemical weapons, in Syria and otherwise, accountable,' the Pentagon said
