The Russian presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak visited Crimea for an independent report in late May - early June 2014, while the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the order of visiting the peninsula was taken in 2015. This was stated in a comment to RIA Novosti by a representative of the politician Ksenia Chudinova.

The day before it became known that Sobchak was in the database of the Myrotvorets site  for illegally visiting Crimean peninsula. Myrotvorets center is a non-governmental organization, which deals with “the investigation of elements of crime against national security of Ukraine, peace, human security and international order”.

"The site was opened in August 2014, Sobchak with (journalist Anton - ed.) Krasovsky went to Crimea for an independent report almost at the end of May - early June 2014. Earlier, presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak said that she sent an application to the Ukrainian embassy requesting permission to enter Crimea through the territory of Ukraine within the framework of the election campaign. Later, representatives of the Ukrainian embassy in Russia denied this information.

Speaker of the State Border Service of Ukraine Oleg Slobodyan said that if Sobchak appears on the Ukrainian border, State Border Service "will carry out a set of measures to verify the possible violation of its Ukrainian legislation."

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin called "political schizophrenia" the intention of Sobchak to conduct pre-election campaign in the occupied Crimea.
