The ongoing gas dispute between Ukraine and Russia will not harm the implementation of Nord Stream II project. Paul Corcoran, the Chief Financial Officer of Nord Stream 2 AG company said that in his commentary for RIA Novosti news agency.
'The development of this (gas dispute, - 112 International) does not impede the deployment of Nord Stream II project since it aims to contribute to the long-term security of gas supplies to Europe', he stressed.
Last month, Stockholm arbitrary court granted the motion to the appeal filed by Naftogaz-Ukraine against Russia's energy enterprise Gazprom. The Ukrainian side received compensation (USD 4.6 billion) for the gas shortfall from Russia. Gazprom is also supposed to pay Naftogaz another 2.56 billion dollars, with additional 526,000 for every day of the delinquency - starting from March 1.
Gazprom protested against the court's decision and announced that all respective contracts with the Ukrainian side will be terminated. Meanwhile, Naftogaz demanded that Gazprom compensate 34 percent of the pre-payment for the emergency purchase from Europe, when the Russian company lowered pressure during the gas transit.
