Gazprom to continue transit through Ukraine until legal issues resolved
The Russian gas supplier Gazprom, despite the recent announcement of the termination of contracts with Naftogaz of Ukraine, will not stop the transit of gas through Ukraine in the near future. This was reported by RBC with reference to the official representative of the company Sergey Kupriyanov.

"If it were so, we would say so directly," Kupriyanov said, answering the question whether the commencement of the procedure for the termination of the contract with Naftogaz in the Stockholm Arbitration means the immediate cessation of transit through Ukraine.

The publication reports with reference to a source in the trader's Gazprom subsidiary of Gazprom Export that transit through Ukraine will continue, as it is necessary to go through the legal process to break contracts.

"The court procedure takes time, we are not stopping the flow of gas right now through Ukraine," the source said.

As reported, after the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration, Gazprom declared the initiation of the termination of contracts for the supply and transit of gas from the Naftogaz of Ukraine.

On February 28, the Stockholm Arbitration Court satisfied Naftogaz's claims on the suit against Gazprom. Naftogaz achieved compensation in the amount of $ 4.63 billion for Gazprom's failure to deliver agreed volumes of gas for transit. Also, Gazprom must pay 2.56 billion dollars in favor of Naftogaz. For the debt will be charged interest - 526 thousand dollars a day from March 1.

However, Gazprom does not agree with the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration to pay compensation to Naftogaz.
