Poroshenko, Putin hold telephone conversation, timed to Minsk deal anniversary

Leaders of Ukraine and Russia held a phone conversation on Tuesday night.
According to Petro Poroshenko's administration, the negotiations were long-lasting, as the presidents discussed the exchange and release of hostages in Donbas, and the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the Normandy Four (slated for February 16 in Munich, Germany, - 112 International).    

The initiative of the phone call belonged to the Ukrainian side; it was timed to the third anniversary of the Minsk agreements signature.

Last time Petro Poroshenko and Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation in July 2017; however, it was a multilateral negotiation, whick also included French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. 
Ukraine's presidential administration reminded that Poroshenko and Putin have not negotiated face-to-face for more than three years.
