Germany permits realization of Nord Stream 2 project

Germany allowed the realization of Nord Stream 2 project in its territorial waters. This was reported on the official website of the project.
"Today, Nord Stream 2 AG received permission to build and exploit the planned gas pipeline in the territorial waters of Germany and the adjacent territory in Lubmin, near Greifswald. The Stralsund Mining Authority officially gave permission for the use of this section of about 55 kilometers to build the gas pipeline in accordance with the law on energy industry, "the report said.
It is noted that the national procedures for issuing permits for the construction of Nord Stream 2 in Russia, Finland, Sweden and Denmark are going as planned.

As it was reported earlier Poland asked United States to expand sanctions on the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline between Russia and Germany. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said this after the meeting with the US Secretary Rex Tillerson. He stressed that the previous interpretation of the law did not satisfy Poland.
Russia’s leading energy enterprise Gazprom and its partners intend to start implementing the Nord Stream-2 project worth almost 10 billion euros in April 2018. The 1,200-kilometers-long pipeline is to be laid through the Baltic Sea, linking Russia and Germany – bypassing Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic States. The capacity will be twice larger than that of Nord Stream I. The construction is to be complete by late 2019.
