Government of annexed Crimea intends to appeal against sanctions to European Court of Justice

The government of the annexed Crimea intends to appeal to the European Court of Justice against the sanctions imposed upon Crimea. Aleksandr Molokhov, head of the expert committee on international law in the occupied Crimea told .
“The work is ongoing, and be it not this year, then next, we will definitely do this. We are working in two directions: the first is challenging the personal sanctions, Here we want to choose a candidate as to whom the sanctions were undoubtedly introduced unduly. At the moment it’s all still in process,” he said.

Molokhov added that the second direction is challenging the sanctions against Crimea altogether.
“The difficulty is that we will have to go to court abroad, at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, and it requires some serious financial expenses and a search for some sources for this work,” he explained.
As most of the countries don’t recognize the annexation of Crimea, many of them imposed economic sanctions against the peninsula.
