Bosnian Serbs have installed a monument to Vitaly Churkin, the deceased Russian ambassador to the United Nations. This was reported by RTRS.
The opening ceremony took place on Monday in the Eastern Sarajevo - countyin Serbia which is a part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The monument is a commemorative plaque on a black stone pedestal with a portrait, name, patronymic and surname in Russian and the years of life (1952-2917) of Vitaly Churkin, as well as the inscription "Thank you for the Russian No".
It is reported that in this way the Bosnian Serbs expressed their gratitude for blocking the resolution in the UN Security Council on Srebrenica two years ago. In 2015, Churkin vetoed a document developed by Britain, which condemned the massacres in Srebrenica as genocide.

In July 1995 in Srebrenica participants of Serbian military formations killed about 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men aged 13 to 77 years. This event is considered the most bloody crime in Europe since the World War II.
Vitaly Churkin, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, died on February 20 in New York the day before his 65th birthday.
