At least 15 policemen received injuries during fights with
Kurd] in Dusseldorf, Germany.
According to Spiegel
, the reason for outrage among Kurds was that the court of North Rhine-Westphalia state of Germany banned the public use of any flags and banners featuring the image of Abdullah Ocalan, the leader of Kurdistan Workers’ Party.
Despite the ban, protesters hit the streets, carrying the banners with Ocalan’s image; the police urged them to remove the banners, and the protesters responded aggressively – up to attacking the law enforcers with flag poles. The police used pepper sprays to disperse the crowd.
