German companies will not operate in the occupied Crimea; Frank-Walther], the country’s foreign minister said this in his interview with Kommersant.
According to him, the considerable deterioration of Russia-Germany trade relations is ‘the consequence of the sanctions imposed in 2014, as well as deepening alienation of the late years’.
‘We did not recognize the annexation of Crimea, performed in breach of the international law. This fact undoubtedly has certain consequences for the operation of German companies in Crimea. German companies will not be working there,’ he said.
According to him, the German businesses have not been investing in Crimea-related initiatives. ‘The Siemens case is especially sensitive here because it seems that the Russian side promised something and never lived up to their promises,’ Steinmeier said.
