Merkel does not agree to reconcile with Crimea's annexation

German Chancellor Angela Merkel does not agree with the position of the leader of the Free Democratic Party of Germany Christian Lindner regarding Crimea. She stated this in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeinen Sonntagszeitung.

"If I now, for example, hear that the Russian annexation of Crimea should be simply accepted, I ask myself: what would have happened if they had treated us in the GDR the same way, according to the slogan. If Germany would be divided, nothing will change?" said Merkel.

Thus, she commented on the statement of free democrats leader, who stated that the question of the annexation of Crimea "must be temporarily considered separately from other issues in order to achieve progress in relations with Moscow."

Lindner subsequently clarified his position, saying that his party does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea. But since now the problem of occupation can not be solved, it is not necessary to link other issues to it, because otherwise it will not be possible to achieve progress in relations with Russia.

The German government said that they did not change their position on the issue of the Crimea annexed by Russia.
