Ukrainian Presidents appoints new State Border Service chiefUkrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree appointing Head of the Operations Department of the State Border Service Petro Tsyhykal as the service's chief.

This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

"As president and as supreme commander-in-chief, I have signed the decree based on a corresponding presentation for the appointment of Petro Oleksandrovych Tsyhykal as the new head of the service," Poroshenko said presenting the new head of the service in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Earlier, former Head of Ukraine's State Border Guard Service Viktor Nazarenko submitted a letter of resignation because of a health reason.

"As president, I am satisfied with the state of affairs in the Border Service, but health is health, and we should take this into account... That's why I decided to grant his request. I simultaneously signed a decree dismissing Nazarenko as the service head and appointing him as my adviser," Poroshenko said.

In addition, the president bestowed on Nazarenko the military rank of the army general of Ukraine.

In his turn, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said Nazarenko would work at the board of the Interior Ministry to ensure better communication with the State Border Guard Service.
