The Donetsk sector is now the hottest area in the entire combat zone in eastern Ukraine. Over the last 24 hours, Russia-backed militants landed 47 attacks on Ukrainian positions.
This is reported by the ATO headquarters on Facebook
Avdiivka, one of the hottest spots, went under fire from tanks, 82 and 120 mm mortars, RPGs and heavy machineguns. 82 mm mines hit Verkhnyotoretske and Luhanske. Kamyanka, Zaitseve and Pisky were shelled from grenade launchers, while in Troitske, the enemy used heavy machineguns and small arms.
In the Mariupol sector, militants fired on Krasnohorivka, Vodyane, Pavlopol, Talakivka and Lebedynske; they used 82 mm mortars, IFVs, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. Enemy snipers opened fire in Lebedynske and Vodyane.
In Luhansk region, hostile units fired 82 mm mortars and automatic grenade launchers in Katerynivka. Novozvanivka and Donets went under RPG fire.
Also, last night, Russia-backed militants shelled Maryinka, Donetsk region. That led to numerous destructions and now some districts of the town are cut off from the electrical grid due to the shelling. Pavlo Zhebrivsky, Donetsk governor reported that at Facebook.
‘Some of residential houses were damaged; an unexploded 120 mm mine stuck in the middle of a yard in a living quarter. Currently, the town’s municipal services are working to restore the electric supply,’ he wrote.
The situation in Avdiivka remains complicated; the town’s been one of the epicentres of military actions in Donbas. Yesterday, April 20, the old part of the city went under mortar and tank fire.
