 Сoncept of OSCE operation in Donbas to be changed - OSCE SMM headA concept of the operation of the OSCE special monitoring mission (SMM) in Donbas will be changed this year, head of the mission Ertugrul Apakan has said.

At a meeting with Ukraine's Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak, Apakan said they plan to expand the geography of their monitors' work, increase their presence in conflict zones and diversify their activities, the Defense Ministry reported on its website on Tuesday.

As reported earlier, Foreign Minister of Austria, a country currently heading the OSCE, Sebastian Kurz announced his plans to expand work of the Special mission in Donbas to cover the nighttime.

Soon 700 SMM observers will get additional technical equipment and their mission will be extended, he said. The majority of clashes and shooting happens at night when the OSCE mission does not monitor the situation, he also noted.
