WikiLeaks urges people to leak Donald Trump's tax returns

WikiLeaks urges people to leak Donald Trump's tax returnsWikiLeaks has called on people to leak Donald Trump's tax returns after the senior counselor to the U.S. president, Kellyanne Conway, confirmed he won't do so.

"Trump Counselor Kellyanne Conway stated today that Trump will not release his tax returns. Send them to: so we can," the organisation, which released hacked emails from the Democratic Party during the presidential campaign, tweeted.

WikiLeaks also slammed Trump for breaking an electoral promise — and historic tradition for presidents — to disclose information on their finances.

"Trump's breach of promise over the release of his tax returns is even more gratuitous than Clinton concealing her Goldman Sachs transcripts," the next tweet stated.

Conway told ABC's This Week that Trump's administration will not release the president's tax returns:

“The White House response is that he’s not going to release his tax returns. We litigated this all through the election,” she said.

"People didn’t care. They voted for him, and let me make this very clear: most Americans are — are very focused on what their tax returns will look like while President Trump is in office, not what his look like," Conway said.

A petition on the White House website calling for the release of the returns "with all information needed to verify emoluments clause compliance" collected 255,947 signatures.

A recent Washington Post-ABC poll showed that 74 percent of Americans, including 53 percent of Republicans, want to see Trump’s returns.

Last week in the last days of his administration Barack Obama has commuted Chelsea Manning for leaking documents to Wikileaks in 2010.
