Russia building up forces in occupied Crimea, expanding military bases - BaerRussia continues to increase military power in the occupied Crimea, expanding military bases and rebuilding destroyed Soviet infrastructure, Permanent Council in Vienna, US representative to the Organization, Ambassador Daniel Baer, informed during a meeting of the OSCE, Ukrinform reports.

Russia continues to suppress dissent, persecuting anyone who does not agree with the occupation, Baer stressed.

"Russia is increasing its military presence in the region, restoring the Ukrainian and Soviet infrastructure such as radar Dnepr, expanding the base and placing more military on the Ukrainian land," diplomat said, noting that such actions take place without the consent of Ukraine.

"This week six of the Crimean Tatars were sent to a forced psychiatric examination because of the protests against the Russian occupation. We call on Russia to stop practising punitive psychiatry," said Baer underlining violations of human rights in annexed Crimea.

The diplomat noted that associated with Crimea sanctions against Russia will remain in force until it ends its occupation and annexation of Crimea and returns control of the territory of Ukraine.
