'DPR' militants’ commander Motorola killed in Donetsk - media (VIDEO)

'DPR' militants’ commander Motorola killed in Donetsk - media (VIDEO)Arsen Pavlov, known as Motorola, was reported killed in Donetsk. “According to preliminary data, a homemade explosive went off in an elevator of the house where Arsen Pavlov lived. “Motorola” was in the epicentre of the blast and was fatally injured,” – the source says.

It is also reported that a plan of a capture of the suspects is announced in the “republic”.

The “republic’s defence ministry” confirmed the death of Arsen Pavlov (“Motorola”).

“According to the preliminary data, “Motorola” died in the result of a terror activity of the “Ukrainian sabotage-reconnaissance group”. An explosive device detonated remotely,” – the militants’ defence institution reports.

Ukraine’s Security Service (SSU) confirmed the fact that DPR militant was killed. Yuriy Tandyt, a counselor of the head of the SSU, told this to 112 Ukraine TV channel.

‘I can confirm this information which is now spread by the media – Arsen Pavlov was killed. The man who committed crimes against Ukraine’s integrity and was in fact wanted… he was killed tonight in a residential house,’ he said.

Mykola Malomuzh, former Head of Ukrainian intelligence, commented on the assassination of DPR militant commander.

‘Our special services do not actually use such methods of terror. And since such operation took place amidst the military actions, it was quite justified, of course. As of now, we have certain information about serious disputes between Motorola and other members of the illegal armed units. Previously, he survived several attempts on assassination and was wounded several times. So there are actually two versions of what happened. Perhaps this was some domestic showdown – maybe something approved by their counsellors from Moscow. On the other hand, some of Ukrainian patriots or agents of our special services could be involved, too. But that’s not likely since we don’t have such powerful system of counteracting terrorism abroad,’ Malomuzh said.

In 2015, Ukraine turned to the Interpol asking to put Motorola on the wanted list; the agency refused.

Arsen Pavlov, known as Motorola, came to the occupied Donbas as chairman of the illegal armed unit ‘Sparta’. Previously, he claimed to have executed 15 POWs, the soldiers of Ukraine’s armed forces. Amnesty International urged to investigate the murders that he confirmed to have committed.
