Four people detained for plotting against British and German embassies in Turkey

Four people detained for plotting against British and German embassies in TurkeyFour people arrested in Turkey accused in potential threat against British and German diplomatic missions but no links to any terrorist groups were found, a Turkish official said on Friday.

"Four people were detained in relation to a potential act against the two embassies. Security remains at the highest level. We continue to cooperate closely and share information with the foreign missions," the official said.

The investigation was prompted by intelligence about a potential Islamic State plot against the embassies, state-run Anadolu Agency said. Three of the suspects were detained in Ankara and one of them in Istanbul, it said.

Earlier on Friday Britain has shut its embassy in the capital Ankara because of the security reasons it says.

"The British Embassy Ankara will be closed to the public on Friday 16 September for security reasons," the foreign office said late on Thursday.

In other case the Germany embassy announced via its website that the missions were only available for limited operations on Friday after a four-day public holiday this week.

From Monday to Thursday government offices and financial markets were closed in Turkey for the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday.
