Trump will speak on illegal migration on Wednesday
Donald Trump, U.S. Republican nominee for presidency tweeted on Sunday night that he is due to deliver a major speech on illegal immigration in Arizona on Wednesday.
"I will be making a major speech on ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION on Wednesday in the GREAT State of Arizona. Big crowds, looking for a larger venue,"
His immigration speech was originally planned for last Thursday in Denver.
The announcement came after last week Trump decided to clarify his concerns over migrants’ issue, promising he would crack down on illegal immigrants who overstay their visas.
During his speech in Iowa on Saturday, Trump said he plans to implement a tracking system for illegal immigrants who overstay their visas to be quickly removed. He also proposed an e-verify system to prevent undocumented residents from gaining access to welfare and other benefits."If we don’t enforce visa expiration dates, then we have an open border – it’s as simple as that,"
Trump’s first priority, on condition he takes office in January, would be the prompt deportation of all undocumented immigrants who remain in the United States even after they committed crimes.
