Russia offers Japan to join humanitarian operation in Syria

Russia offers Japan to join humanitarian operation in SyriaRussia suggested Japan could join the Russia-led UN humanitarian operation in the Syrian city of Aleppo, Russian Deputy Defence Minister Anatoly Antonov said on Friday.

Antonov made the proposal during his meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Russia, Toyohisa Kozuki, on Thursday. It was during the preparations for the first 48-hour humanitarian pause in Aleppo to supply the city with aid.

On Thursday the United Nations confirmed readiness to begin humanitarian assistance deliveries to Aleppo at any time having received Russia’s agreement for the pause, but awaited guarantees from other actors on the ground.

Antonov also expressed Kozuki some concern over US missile system deployment in the Asia-Pacific.
