Georgia ex-president and current Odesa governor's wife to run for seat in Georgian ParlimentThe wife of Mikheil Saakashvili decided to run for the Parliamentary election in Georgia, Interfax.

Sandra Roelofs will run for the former ruling party "United Nation Movement party" as she was proposed for the Parliament election from Zigdidi region.

At the election meeting with the voters Roelofs announced she was ready for the fight and hoped for the voters' support.

Hundreds of people flocked to the square to listen to the speech of the wife of the ex-President of Georgia and the current governor of Odesa region in Ukraine.

She said: "Four years after Milheil left [the post] the acting authorities have not done anything, although they could have done a lot. Today, Georgia is at a standstill, it stagnates, and the current power does not want to change anything."

Roelofs pointed out the "United Nation Movement party" lost the previous election due to the errors it had made.

Roelofs also said: "Before making a decision to run in the Parliamentary election I had asked Mikheil, can I make the same mistakes in case we win? He answered no."

The audience warmly welcomed the candidate and chanted "Sandra" a long while.

The parliamentary election in Georgia will take place on October 8.
