The case of Hizb Ut-Tahrir’s activity in Crimea is being classified, so that the society doesn’t know anything about its course. According to Popkov’s interview to Radio Krym.Realii, ‘all lawyers of the defendants in this case were warned that the secrecy of preliminary inquiry must be held inviolable.
As a matter of fact, they just want to get the case as far away as possible from public attention. They don’t want people to talk about it’.
Alexandr Popkov represents Crimean human rights activist Emir-Hussein Kuku. He and another three Crimean Tatars were detained in February 2016 under accusations of being involved in Hizb Ut-Tahrir, the infamous terrorist organization. The four faced charges of involvement in pan-Islamic terrorist organization that aims to wipe out the other religions and nations who cherish these religions.
