Ukrainian parlament called world to honor victims of Crimean Tatars deportation in 1944
The decree urges the world’s leading organizations – the UN, NATO, PACE and others – to pay more attention to violations of rights of Crimean Tatars on the Russian-occupied peninsula. The Ukrainian MPs also called on the international organizations to remember and honor the victims of the 1944 deportation of Crimean Tatars - specifically, on May 18, when Crimean Tatars mark the anniversary of that tragic event.

The Ukrainian government insists that the action perpetrated by the Soviet authorities in 1944 was the act of genocide of the indigenous people of Crimea.
