Russian authorities try hard to isolate Nadiya Savchenko from any contacts - LawyerRussian authorities try hard to isolate Nadiya Savchenko from any contacts; they bar Ukrainian consuls from visiting her and refuse to show her test results. Mark Feygin, Nadiya’s lawyer, said this in an interview with 112 Ukraine TV channel.

“I saw her yesterday. We didn’t have much time, though, maybe half an hour or so. Today, it’s been third day that Nadiya’ keeps up to her hunger strike. She didn’t look too well, to be honest; I could see she’s having a tough time. She was wrapping herself up in the blanket, though it was rather hot in Rostov at the moment. They conducted several tests on April 5, but the results are kept in secret – neither she nor consuls received them. I reckon they are trying to isolate Savchenko from any possible contacts. They still haven’t let Ukrainian consul visit her. They made certain conclusion after Nadiya’s first waterless hunger strike; now, they’re changing tactics so that almost no one could see her”, Feygin said.

The lawyer added that he returned to Moscow to settle the issue with Ukrainian and German doctors, so that they could visit the detained pilot in Rostov. “There’s a chance they will eventually see her, but that’s up to the Federal Penal Enforcement Service and the Foreign Ministry. I think they’re going to stall on this matter, because if Nadiya keeps on with her hunger strike, they’ll forcefully feed her and convoy her to correctional facility. That’s why we, the lawyers, are going to visit her in turns”, Feygin concluded.

Nadiya's sister Vira Savchenko confirmed that the detained pilot has been on the waterless hunger strike since April 6.
