Ukraine, Russia and the European Commission have agreed to hold the trilateral negotiations on the Russian gas transit across Ukraine's territory after 2019. The possible date of the talks would be the second half of September. Russia's energy minister Alexandr Novak said this at a meeting with Deputy Head of European Commission Maros Sefcovic, as Interfax quoted him.
'We assumed it would be the best time', he said.
'We'll carry on with our constructive talks on the phone in summer and when we meet in September', Sefcovic said.

The EU official added he hoped that the talks would be constructive and the sides would have to meet for new rounds neither in November nor in December. Sefcovic also said he hopes that Gazprom and Ukraine could make a new long-time deal for the gas transit.
Novak also said Gazprom is ready to negotiate to provide the mutually profitable conditions on supplies and transit. He added that the Russian side was ready to carry on with the gas transit across Ukraine under the current conditions and to supply gas to Ukraine by 25 percent cheaper than by the reverse mechanism from the EU.
