Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin called the information about the visit of Council of Europe Commissioner Dunja Mijatovic to annexed Crimea to be “fake” as he reported on Facebook.
“Another Russian “fake” about the visit of Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic to occupied Crimea. Such a visit should be agreed with us and take place according to the Ukrainian legislation,” - Klimkin wrote.
He emphasized that in case of the agreement of the visit “for the full, and important, right impression from isolated and confidential by Russia Crimea, the Commissioner of Council of Europe should definitely feel the “unforgettable” atmosphere of the restrictiveness of the peninsula of unfreedom and see the persecutions and arrests for herself”.
Foreign Minister added that the Ukrainian side insists for a long time on the permanent presence of the international organizations, particularly humanitarian, in annexed Crimea.
“Some particular situations visit cannot influence the situation; it is necessary to begin the real permanent international presence on occupied peninsula. I hope that the Council of Europe will succeed not to lose the trust to it,” the foreign minister concluded.
Earlier European Truth and Radio Liberty cited words of Dunja Mijatovic that she really intends to visit annexed Crimea but “it should be approved”.
“There are a lot of issues, which should be specified to make me allow to deal with the human rights activity on the peninsula”, Mijatovic added.
As we reported the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) obliged Russia to immediately place political prisoner, Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov into a hospital.
