Nadiya Savchenko wrote a letter to Yulia Tymoshenko

Nadiya Savchenko wrote a letter to Yulia TymoshenkoThe prisoner opposed amendments to a scandalous law named after her.

According to Savchenko, the law is “…a starting point for changing the entire justice system. It is not necessary to commit sabotage against it, only to obtain a positive image among voters."

Savchenko believes that the law has showed a positive improvement for the new, comprehensive and balanced judicial system.

Therefore, Savchenko as the member of Ukrainian Parlament is “against any amendments proposed to the law” and protects it in “the previously adopted wording, even while staying in the prison of all nations—in Russia.”

It should be noted that the law has repeatedly been criticized. Moreover, the Head of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine Volodymyr Palahniuk summoned the Parliament to suspend the force of the law in order to amend it.

"About 50 thousand prisoners are subjected to this law. Under the legislation, almost 6,000 people will be prematurely released in the nearest future. Now I will tell you in terms of statistics: every 6th from 6,000 prisoners, who is going to be released, had been convicted of murder," said Palahniuk.

As reported, previous year, on December 23, the President Petro Poroshenko signed the so-called "Savchenko's law", according to which, one day of staying in pre-trial detention center will be considered equal to two days of imprisonment.

Earlier, the Parliament of Ukraine has adopted a law that obliges the Courts to count the pre-trial remand time of the sentenced people as two days of sentence.
