Defense ministry to be reformed by 2018The Ministry of Defence and foreign experts have developed a "road map" for the Defense Ministry and the General Staff’s reforms which corresponds to NATO standards, the Defense Ministry of Ukraine’s spokeswoman Viktoria Kushnir reported.

"In 2015, 65 NATO standards were introduced in the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2016 – 2018 the Program on military standardization of Defense Ministry foresees the development and introduction of more than 70 other standards,"—she said.

"Currently, the main provisions of the Defense Ministry and the General Staff’s reforming in correspondence with NATO standards have been worked out in cooperation with foreign experts and advisers at the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The "road map" of these reforms’ implementation has been prepared, which provides for the Defense Ministry’s reforming by the year 2018, and the General Staff’s reforming by the year 2020"—Kushnir added.

Also, according to spokeswoman, by the order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine the Committee for Defense and Armed Forces’ reforms has been established, which will serve for the introduction of reforming measures.
Earlier, President Petro Poroshenko approved by his Decree the Annual National Programme of Ukraine–NATO Cooperation for the year 2016.
